Since 1279 the gardens have been the resting place and mediation of the Roman Pontiff, Pope Nicholas III had a solemn structure built on the Vatican hill, protected by the new walls that we can still admire today. Renaissance culture, art and philosophy influence gardens not only through the architecture itself, but also with the construction of fountains, statues and temples. From 13 April 2015 the Vatican Gardens are again open to the public. Don’t let the opportunity go to visit the green heart of the Vatican in a new, original and sustainable way.
