Free Entrance
Free 0-5 years
Vatican Museums reserve free admission to all disabled visitors with certified disability over 74%. In case of non self-sufficiency, the gratuity is also extended to an accompanying person. This type of visit cannot be booked online: entrance tickets, free of charge, are issued, upon presentation of an invalidity certification, at the Special Permits and / or Reception desks in the Museum hall.
A disabled skip the line (without waiting line) is guaranteed to the disabled person and his accompanying person.
At the cloakroom, a free wheelchair rental service is made available (subject to availability) by MV for visitors with walking problems. For rental, a presentation with a valid identity document is required.
Visit without architectural barriers
The museums are also accessible to visitors on mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs. However, for reasons of encumbrance, in some museum areas access or use is not allowed. In this case, the visitor will be invited to transfer on traditional wheelchairs that can be rented for free at the entrance hall.
Dedicated and equipped toilets for the disabled are located along the tour route and at the refreshment points. For a faster identification of the toilets, we recommend consulting the VM Map.
Most of the museum areas of the VM are accessible to people with motor disabilities. To facilitate the visit, the VM however recommend a barrier-free visit itinerary which, thanks to the assistance of the Guardian staff, allows easy access to the main services and points of interest.
Security
During the entrance all visitors must pass the security check through the metal detectors.
All objects not allowed in the museum must be left in the cloakroom of the Vatican museums (it is a free service offered by the Vatican Museums).

The entrance to the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Gardens is allowed only to visitors dressed in a dignified way.
